Arbitration is the preferred method of dispute resolution in international trade. Arbitration provides neutrality, ease of enforcement and flexibility to its users.


The city of Paris is a strategical centre for international arbitration. Among the reasons for that unique position, is the presence in the city of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and statutory and case law that encourage the development of international arbitration. 


Some of the best attorneys and professors in the Paris arbitration community trained Rafael Martins de Paiva. 


Before starting his firm, he was an associate in an international arbitration boutique where he was involved in all stages of the proceedings, from the request of arbitration to the litigation related to enforcement or set-aside of the award.


Rafael Martins de Paiva worked in cases under the most well-known arbitration rules in complex cross-border cases. For example, a dispute in the mining sector with five parallel arbitrations and multiple proceedings before State courts. Applicable arbitration rules were those of the ICC, SMA and LMAA. The seats of the arbitrations were in New York, Miami, London and Zurich. The language of the arbitrations was English.
